With decades of hands-on experience, we help organizations make informed decisions that truly reduce landfill waste.
Choices carry consequences—sometimes severe. A well-intentioned idea can undo years of progress.
We’ve seen this firsthand in our 45 years of experience in post-consumer recycling.
Increase in waste sent to landfill
Reduction in community recycling trust
Years of recycling infrastructure & education lost
Additional waste disposal costs
One misguided government decision illustrates the severity of uninformed policy: landfill bin labels encouraged people to throw clothing into landfill alongside food scraps and nappies. Simultaneously, kerbside recycling programs allowing residents to place unwanted items out for reuse were shut down.
The consequences were immediate and severe. Community textile drop boxes became overwhelmed with non-recyclable waste, leading to their complete removal and even threats of prosecution against those who hosted them.
This policy reversal wiped out years of community education and recycling infrastructure, unfairly penalised operators, and led to a sharp rise in textiles being sent to landfill.
